Craigslist seller returns fire after being led into trap
Buckeye Firearms
Submitted by cbaus 03/04/2010 An Ohio man is recovering from a gunshot wound after being attacked in an ambush by people who told had lured him to Dayton on the promise of buying his car, which he had advertised on Craigslist.com. As it turns out, however, the car thieves weren't the only ones carrying guns. Story here |
Re: Craigslist seller returns fire after being led into trap
I'm glad he and his girlfriend survived.. but they don't seem bright enough to be carrying guns

Dad's advice was good. Lucky the youngster still has the benefit of 20/20 hindsight. Didn't get the car back?

Re: Craigslist seller returns fire after being led into trap
What a dumbass. For high end items like this you sell them in a public spot where you are comfortable with making the sale. I buy stuff on Craigslist all the time in this area and go back and forth from Dayton to Cincinnati, even to Columbus or Richmond, IN and I always conceal carry in these situations.

Re: Craigslist seller returns fire after being led into trap
I always carry anyway, but never more so then when going to places from craigslist. Also people give off weird vibes sometimes or the deal just feels wrong and I ditch going. Just yesterday I ditched one guy selling a high end classic car out in the desert somewhere on a property he claimed was not his. I usually search on people first and he seemed legit enough, but how does one ever really know what sort of trouble someone is in? They could be real down on their luck and you could be the first victim.
Even when carrying it could still be dangerous. I have my wife carry too. If its real weird she stays in the car as backup. If you combined this sort of thing with a small flash mob situation even carrying could be ineffective. I also wont go onto a new customers property to pick up something without knowing who they are first. Be careful out there. |
Re: Craigslist seller returns fire after being led into trap
If you look deep enough the thugs were probably Ebay operatives trying to get a smear campaign going on Craigslist in order to get back the clients that have left in droves over the last few years.

I have sold a few things on CL, I was always packing though... I don't trust people, but no issues so far (knock on wood)...

Re: Craigslist seller returns fire after being led into trap
ebay owns 25% of CL. It's only a matter of time before it becomes a fee site.
